What this study is about
Metformin helps many people manage type 2 diabetes, but not everyone. This study tests whether an investigational treatment further lowers blood sugar for adults already taking metformin whose A1c is still above target.
It's a randomized study run by Crestline Research and sponsored by Westcoast Therapeutics. A computer assigns each participant to either the investigational treatment or a placebo. You can leave the study at any time, for any reason.
What to expect
8 visits over 6 months
Most visits last 60–90 minutes. We schedule around your work and life — early morning and Saturday slots are available.
Blood draws & vital signs
Each visit includes a blood draw and standard vitals. Sometimes a short questionnaire about how you're feeling.
Real informed consent
Before you join, our team walks you through the consent form together — you take it home, ask questions, and decide.
You may be a good fit if...
The full eligibility check is in the pre-screen. Here's the short version:
- You're an adult (18–75) who lives within driving distance of Lexington, MA.
- You've been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for at least 6 months.
- You're currently taking metformin, and your most recent A1c is between 7.0% and 10.5%.
- You're not currently on a GLP-1 medication (like Ozempic or Trulicity).
- You're not pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the study.
If you don't know one of these answers, that's okay. You can say "I don't know" on the pre-screen and we'll figure it out together at the screening visit.
